Are you fed up with how things are right now? Do you want to make a change and take control of your life? If so, you are at the right place. Sometimes, in order to turn our life around, we have to turn our entire world upside down. No one is saying that it’s going to be easy, but what’s certain is that it is achievable.
There numerous guides online concerning this topic, but I’ve found them to be too generic for my taste. They are mostly about things in general; for instance, discover yourself, improve your work ethics, etc. None of them provide actionable information that can be tried out in a real world environment. This is why I’ve decided to give you these 4 steps to turn your life around and make it big.
Get Your Finances Together
Work on your budget. In order to take control of your finances, you have to know your income and expenses. This is not something that will consume much of your time and energy. Write down your fixed expenses and subtract them from you monthly income. This way, it will be much easier for you to determine the amount you can put aside each month to start your savings. You can spend this money on the things that will enrich your life. Such as concerts, hobbies, travelling, etc.
Repair your credit. If you have a bad credit score, debts, and/or negative items, you can repair your credit very easily these days. There are many credit score repair companies on the market. But, please, make sure that they are completely legit, as scams are very common in this area of financing.
Work on your discipline. Consumerism has taken hold with each one of us. This is why we spend copious amounts of cash on things we don’t necessarily need. You can start by making a list of small things you buy on a regular basis. Cross the items that you can live without. That’s a start!
Get Your Health Together
Start working out. Maintaining a good physical shape has many benefits for our overall health and level of self-confidence. If you haven’t had a workout for a while, it would be wise to start with regular walks until you are ready to intensify your workout regime. When you get there, I’d suggest you start with strength building exercises. Keep an eye out for a gym membership; you can get one almost for free these days.
Maintain a regular sleep cycle. A good night’s sleep is incredibly important for our health. If you start to work out, as I suggested in the paragraph above, falling to sleep should not be a problem. If you are still having troubles, make sure that you don’t bring your devices to bed with you. And, yeah, don’t eat after 8pm, especially foods rich in sugar.
Try to avoid junk food. All of us enjoy eating junk food. Sometimes, our daily schedule doesn’t allow us to enjoy a good, healthy meal. That’s ok. What’s wrong is making a habit out of it. It’s ok to eat some “guilty pleasure” food, as long as it doesn’t become your regular diet.
In the end, don’t forget to stay hydrated; you will need to drink at least 2 liters of water per day. There are some quite useful smartphone apps that can help you get into this habit.
Get Your Social Life Back
Get ready to take risks. One of the most common reasons why people stay away from meeting new people is fear of rejection. This fear is quite normal after staying in your comfort zone for a while. Go out there and take risks. Don’t worry; nobody ever died from being rejected by semi-strangers.
Become available and take initiative. Most of the time, we tend to fall into the trap of not being available. We get asked to go on drinks after work or to go to some party during the weekend and we automatically reject it without giving it a thought. After this scenario gets repeated several times, people will just assume that you don’t have time and they won’t call you anymore.
Be ready to share. In order to be able to form quality social connections, you need to let yourself go. Take responsibility that is offered to you in numerous social events and be ready to share personal stuff with your friends. Social connections are based on reciprocities; you have to give something to get something in return.
Get Your Professional Life Together
Grow and develop. Professional growth and development are closely related to your job satisfaction. Try to find some online courses that could help you improve your skills. Who knows, maybe a better job opportunity is waiting around the corner for you. Remember, setting things in motion is always a great feeling, and the thrill that it brings will definitely make you happy.
Networking events. Networking events are becoming more and more popular. They are a great opportunity to exchange your opinions and views on specific subjects related to the industry you are in. Besides, networking events also offer a unique chance for you to meet new people and get connected to those who share your point of view.
Consider changing careers. In the end, a career change is also a viable option. Maybe it is time to turn your hobby into a money earning activity. What do you think?
This is something I’ve tried and it worked form me. Keep in mind that these things are not carved in stone and if you find something that doesn’t suit you, feel free to change it for something more constructive. In the end, what matters is your experience, because there is a difference between not trying at all and trying and failing.
