Homeless In Philly To Internet Marketing & How It Saved My Life (Peter Lang Interview)

January 30, 2018 By Peter L 3 Comments

Editors Note and Introduction

This is a brief interview with an entrepreneur who has a passionate story. Internet marketing is not only his way of life now, it saved his life. This story is by far one of the greatest accomplishments anyone can have.

I want to embrace and lift stories like this on Feedster. Do the same by sharing the story. You could impact and save a life!

I have family that has struggled with addictions. My sister died at 40 from alcoholism. My other sister is in an almost vegetative state from pill addictions. My brother in law is “homeless” from addiction. I love the fact that Peter has overcome and is sharing his story!

Peter Lang Talks Through His Path To Entrepreneurship and Internet Marketing (Homeless in Philly)

Internet Marketer From Homeless In Philly

I was homeless throughout most of my twenties, living on the streets in Philadelphia and the beaches in Maui. I struggled with addiction to alcohol to the point where I drank so much, I developed necrosis in my hips. When I was struck by a car as a pedestrian in Philadelphia, I required a double hip replacement at the age of 30. I have been addicted to heroin, meth, cocaine, and a dozen other substances, both prescription drugs and illegal drugs.

Hit By A Car In Philadelphia

After I got hit by the car in Philadelphia, my mom offered for me to come to Georgia to live with her. I did, and I spent nearly two years in a wheelchair. I got sober for a while, but I kept relapsing. In February of 2016, though, I met a woman at church and fell in love almost immediately. I was so happy with her, but I still struggled with alcohol and prescription drugs.

It wasn’t until she got me a job in internet marketing that things really began to turn around. The more I worked, the more I discovered I actually really loved marketing. I would spend hours listening to podcasts, reading blogs, watching videos, and trying to learn everything I could about marketing.

Marriage, Sober, And 1 Year Later

We ended up getting married, and now we live in a beautiful house together. We both work from home as freelance marketers and writers, and we couldn’t be happier. I have been sober for a little over a year.

When I started working a job I actually enjoyed, I developed an entirely new sense of self-worth. Exploring a field that I was becoming so interested in giving me a new drive and ambition. I am inspired by entrepreneurs who I follow on social media, and I am motivated by these hard workers. Exploring the field of internet marketing has given me a new sense of hope, a feeling like anything is possible.

Internet Marketing Is My Passion And Saved My Life

Throughout my life, every time I’ve tried to stop using drugs and alcohol before, I’ve failed. What I didn’t understand is that it wasn’t enough for me to simply stop drinking or using drugs. I had to find a new activity—a new passion—to fill the void that was left when I stopped those destructive activities.

Now, things are looking up for the first time in my life. I love my house, I love my wife, and I love my work. I was able to finally get sober, and now I can help others who are struggling with addiction. My life is better than I ever imagined it could be back when I was in the thick of my addiction.

Because the truth is that there has never been a better time to be an entrepreneur or a marketer. And that gives me the hope and strength to stay sober.
