Facebook might be slowly declining in terms of the marketing power it’s able to offer you, but it’s still worth looking at using this platform to grow your business. The real powerhouse right now, though, is Instagram. Through the use of affiliates and traffic ads, you can create a lasting brand image for your product that organically finds its way onto the feeds of potential new influencers and other important people, driving your website traffic up in the process. You should also add social media share buttons to your page, as nobody wants to go through the lengthy process of copying a link and pasting it to show it to their Facebook friends.
Whatever niche you’re looking to fill, there will be others in your field, and they may well be better-known than you. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that you’re looking to start a travel blog. There are millions of travel bloggers out there, so instead of looking at them as competition, start viewing them as opportunities. This might be an option for when you’re a little better-established, as you might struggle to convince a successful travel blogger to guest on your small site. Keep your presence up
Nothing torpedoes traffic on a website like sporadic content. Keeping to a regular update schedule is incredibly important if you want to keep your traffic high. Think of your favorite websites. Do they update constantly, and do they do so on time (roughly speaking)? Now think of some of the YouTube channels or Instagram accounts you’ve bounced off in the past. Chances are you’ve done that because the updates just weren’t coming fast enough. Releasing a video once or twice a month is fine as long as you know that’s what your audience wants, and as long as you keep to that schedule on a regular basis. If your website is focused on a product which can be packaged and sold, then it’s perfect for contests and giveaways. “I’m handing out 10 free X to the first 10 people who share this post”, for example. Obviously, you can adjust those numbers to suit the scale of your follower count. Contests and giveaways make you look magnanimous, as you’re so passionate about your product and want it to be out there in the world so badly that you’re willing to literally give it away just to make sure people experience it. They’re also a great way to interface with your followers.
