Fixing svchost High CPU Usage

If you ever click on the Windows Task Manager on your computer, you will find various processes running by the name of svchost.exe. Svchost high cpu usage is the culprit. This also is a sign of VIRUSES! You didn’t start and you can’t stop this process.

If your computer is experiencing high CPU usage by svchost, while simultaneously witnessing high bandwidth usage by BITS, then there is a high probability that BITS is the culprit. You should disable BITS and see if the issue resolves itself.

Disable Window Update service

This service is widely known amongst programmers as wuauserv service. This service is famously responsible for hogging up to 50% of the total RAM. You can successfully solve your high CPU usage issue by disabling this service.

However, disabling Window Update service comes at a price. It means this action will no longer start or stop on its own. Such an act leads to the culmination of automatic download of various Windows updates. Updates are integral to insuring that your computer works as efficiently as possible. Therefore, if you choose to disable wuauserv service, do remember to check for updates once a month manually.
