Is “taking a better care of yourself” one of your New Year's Resolutions?

It’s that time of the year when we try to sum the year behind us, what have we accomplished and what can we change in the future in order to live our best lives.

We make New Year’s resolutions and try to keep up with them, but most of the time we forget all about and continue the old way (Yes I am looking at you) So, this time, let’s promise to stay true to ourselves and be stubborn while making our decision last. Whether you want to quit a bad habit, do more exercise or eat healthier, it’s always a good decision to take better care of yourself. Let’s see what can you do to be the best version of yourself.

Physical exercise

Even the birds in the tree know working out is good you. Most people start doing exercise to keep  fit but there is a lot more to physical activity than to just look good in jeans. Regular workout can significantly boost your immune system leaving you less vulnerable to those nasty viruses, bacterias and other infections. It regulates your hormone levels keeping them well balanced. Anyone who works out regularly will tell you nothing  beats the feeling you get when you finish your session. Your body rewards you with the dose of dopamine, making you feel so good.


Are you a morning person? Me neither. Whether you classify yourself as a morning person or not, the truth is- if you had enough sleep you will feel great. By the standards of WHO (World Health Organisation), an adult should have 6 to 8 hours of sleep. If you sleep less than 6 or more than 8 hours you might want to reschedule your hours, set the alarm an try to find your sweet spot in the range from 6 to 8 hours. You will feel more energetic, focused and overall more vigilant while managing your daily tasks.


In the era of constantly changing food trends, with an ongoing “Go Vegan” and gluten-free agenda, it’s hard to keep up with all the information without thinking your breakfast bagel is going to jump and kill you.  Now, let’s keep it simple. If you are not ready to go full on vegan or completely cut off the carbs, gluten etc., there are still some things you can change with your nutrition to make the best of it. Try to cut down your fast food intake. We all love burgers and other deliciously unhealthy foods, but let’s be completely honest- those do nothing for us, empty calories with no health benefits whatsoever. So try co cutt of the bad habit or at least limit yourself to one fast food meal a week. Now veggies. Most of us stray away from vegetables with the excuse they don’t taste good when in fact vegetables should find a place on your plate every day. When it comes to meat, another product we tend to ignore is fish. Fish meat contains omega 3 acids so hard co compensate with any other food, so try to include fish into your dietary regime at least once a week.

A Time For You

It’s a crazy and noisy world we live in. So many pieces of information come to us every day, so many things need to be done, so many people expect something from us… Your colleagues, friends, family. With all this said, one of the most important things we can do is to learn how to take “ME TIME”. Let yourself to be alone. Take 15-30 minutes everyday to do nothing. Take a walk at the park, meditate or just sit and do nothing. It will help you with stress levels, make you more positive and overall give you an ease of mind.
“Easy to say”, you might think. Baby steps my friend, baby steps! You are the most important person in your life and taking good care of yourself should come as a priority. Love yourself, take your notes and let’s go.
