The Shadow Bastion expansion, the Nueva Luz free-to-play version, and the Destiny 2 migration were simultaneous from October 1, 2019.

The change to the free-to-play model of Destiny 2 and the new expansion have been a good excuse for thorough cleaning and modifying some classic systems, from the way cosmetics and shop work to the Armor 2.0 system.
There are a lot of small changes, but here we will summarize the most important:
Each season will have a Battle Pass, a Season Artifact and changes in the progression of the story.
Destiny 2 has had content divided into seasons for a while but now includes new features and rewards.
The headline is that there is now a Battle Pass with 100 reward ranges, in the style of shooters like Fortnite. There are free rewards if you do not buy the Season Pass, while those who do (the first one is included with Shadow Bastion) will receive more.

- The maximum of Light has been raised to 250,000 and the way of obtaining Light has been changed: you will get more for Patrol activities (public events, chests) and weekly missions and less for killing things.
