Big Bets on Pot Stocks – Gambles Not Paying Off Yet

Buying “High” – Profit from Pot Stocks?

So far, more than 20 states have approved marijuana for medicinal purposes. When the state of Colorado, opened up for recreational tokers, pot stocks have been on a high!

But for those who have invested, they have seen their money go from soaring to plummeting. Groups of investors, like the Wolf Pack, similar take to the Wolf of Wall Street, have been making wild claims of fortunes trading in penny stocks in the marijuana industry.

More companies are starting up, to get involved in this exciting new and possibly profitable business. Names like American Green, Vapor Group and Hemp Inc. are gaining momentum and sales. It is like a feeding frenzy for the birth of a new industry says Bruce, CEO of Hemp Inc.

Be careful, a new industry has a lot of questionable companies, start-ups, that are only “pump and dump scams”, can make your money go up in smoke.

According to Areview Market Research, legal weed is predicting sales of 2.6 billion for 2015 and a possible increase of 10.2 billion within five years. Rates of return can increase by 1,000 to 2,000 % per month. Due to the benefits of tax revenues from sales, more states are expected to legalize marijuana.

There are still risks involved with these companies since you still cannot sell weed outright, ahem, it is illegal. But you can cultivate, distribute or be involved with research studies and consulting of marijuana (ganja).

Recent polls show the majority of the population favors legalization of pot and its use of the drug for medicinal purposes.

Investors are watching, several companies are doing well, but it is still a wild -west atmosphere. The two hot points to be involved with are:

  1. Consulting for individuals or groups looking to get into the growing or selling pot business.
  2. Any cannabis related biotechnology, more research and more types of products are needed to use for medicinal alternative treatments.

The Wall Street Journal reports that shares are risky, liquidity is poor, but investors are curious. Mutual funds may be in the future, but it may be 2 years before there is more regulation.

Novus Acquisition and Development is a new business consulting firm helping to provide medical cost plans for people receiving cannabis as an alternative medical treatment.

A new company, Privateer Holdings, is focusing on producing, distributing and educating consumers about legal marijuana. They recently closed on a $75 million round of funding; to be used to create new brands of cannabis products. Their goal is to create brands to inspire trust and create legitimacy.

Privateer was designed to create, incubate and acquire companies involved with the pot industry.

To date these companies include:

  1. Leafly, the world’s largest cannabis information resource.
  2. Tilray, a company on Vancouver Island, Canada, that produces packages and distributes pharmaceutical grade marijuana.
  3. Marley Natural, formed in association with Bob Marley’s family to produce medical cannabis, topical applications and accessories for the US market.

Whatever you choose to call it, the legalization of marijuana has given birth to an industry with great profit potential. Investors just need to ride the wave till the stocks ‘boom’.
