Working For The Good of Others:
This point may seem trite or cheesy, but it’s undeniably true: when part of the reason you’re exercising is to raise money for those in need, you will feel good when you exercise. Not only that, but it will help you take it on as a responsibility, rather than something you can drop if a friend wants to grab a drink. Furthermore, your partner or family will be more understanding when you say you have to go for a run or take the car to the gym. The marathon may be important for you, and it’s definitely important for others, and this makes it easier to justify. Also, because you’re not working out merely for your own vanity, you will feel an even greater sense of accomplishment leaving the gym and you will take your exercise seriously, bringing a level of professionalism to it.
A Sense of Community

Part of training for a marathon involves strengthening your muscles at the gym, but at the same time, long-distance running and circuit training are crucial. Grab some resistance bands, pylons and a stopwatch and meet your friends at the park. On a hot, beautiful day, gyms can get a bit stuffy. You’ll be surprised at what a good workout you can get with a few basic tools and some friends for support and motivation.
