New York City is the ultimate stop for family-friendly fun. From Times Square to the Statue of Liberty, there are plenty of activities that will keep the whole family satisfied for the entirety of the trip. Regardless of where you stay in the Big Apple, you’ll be able to walk to various restaurants, shops, theaters, and other sights all right outside your hotel or hostel.
To see the famous Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, you’ll want to stay close to Midtown. This area also has the Guggenheim Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Children’s Museum, which are good options for a rainy day.
A lot of tourists also like to stay in central Manhattan because of its proximity to Central Park, which is a 900-acre oasis right in the middle of the city. For more outdoor fun, you can also take the ferry to Staten Island to see the beaches there and the Staten Island Zoo.

As the nation’s capital, there are plenty of attractions to keep everyone overjoyed during your stay. Most people start their trip by checking out the White House and then heading down to the National Mall to see the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. However, if it’s raining during your trip, you should definitely take advantage of the 19 different Smithsonian museums, 11 of which are surrounding the National Mall. All offer free admission, meaning you can come and go as you please–a luxury that’s extremely important with impatient children.
You might also want to stay at a hotel in niche neighborhoods like Georgetown, Adams Morgan, or Dupont Circle. Each of these is easy to get to on the Metro and offer a variety of shopping and dining possibilities.

Because Philadelphia was such an important location in the birth of the nation, it has numerous historical sites to check out. Book a hotel downtown and start your stay by visiting the Independence National Historic Park where you can see Independence Hall, the President’s House, the Liberty Bell, and more.
If you’re not a fan of history, there are still plenty of other places to see. Follow the footsteps of Rocky by climbing the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and enjoying views of the city.
Once you’ve decided on the perfect destination, the next step will be to book a hotel that meets your family’s requirements. For example, you might want a larger suite-style room so everyone can sleep adequately. Or if you’re bringing along Fido, you’ll need a hotel that’s pet-friendly. Whatever the case, once you have your destination and your hotel booked, there’s nothing left to do but to hit the road and start your fantastic journey.
